Organised by: Hong Kong International Airport
In collaboration with: Art Promotion Office
Collection images provided by: Hong Kong Heritage Museum and Hong Kong Museum of Art
A series of four animations making use of collection images from Hong Kong Heritage Museum and Hong Kong Museum of Art is now on display at a massive screen at the Hong Kong International Airport.
The video series is created by illustrator Thomas Siu and animator Henry Chiu. Originated from “Art Seen ‧ Art Screen” project shown at Oi! Deck, images from museum collections were adapted, with the characters and natural environments animated and edited into four individual visual journeys. Vigorous Life, Vivid Expressions gazes at the dance of flowers, birds and insects of Chao Shao-an; Transcending Nature dives through the inking mists of Chan Chik, Shitao, and Cheng Tinglu; Sights of Stories strolls along various corners of Hong Kong with Kong Kai-ming and Au Yeung Nai-chim; A Pleasure in Art: Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Appreciation glimpses into the world of falling leaves and gurgling streams of Gong Xian, Mei Qing and Gao Jian of the Chih Lo Lou Collection.
The project is part of the HKIA Arts and Culture Festival 2023, organised by Hong Kong International Airport with an aim to showcase the rich culture heritage and creativity of Hong Kong to travellers from all over the world. The four videos are on display at a 12-metre high and 24-metre wide screen at the Arrivals Hall of the airport, running intermittently every day.
