Oi! OnSite invites artists to conduct regular visits and create site-specific artworks. They have enriched our imagination on the old and new spaces of Oi! through their artistic perspectives and interpretations.
Artist Silas Fong’s installation works and settings facetiously highlight the crux of certain phenomena, guiding the audience to experience life scenarios from an alternative perspective. As an attempt to express and seek empathy with the process of cooking and sharing, he prepared ingredients, shared food, and “dined” with others in separate locations while in isolation with the help of social media. While food sharing on social media almost replaces primitive sensory exploration, “Oi! Guide – A Comfort Food Journey” invites visitors to explore the connotation of and personal emotions related to “food” in a site-specific game setting, revisiting the distant yet familiar way of life in the post-pandemic era.
