Artist Biography
Zheng Jing is a Chinese contemporary multi-disciplinary artist. He currently serves as a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the China Academy of Art, and Academic Leader of Public Art. His artistic practice focuses on public art creation, exploring ways to expand the expressive language and forms of spatial art through the integrated use of non-solid media and multisensory experiences. Approaching sculpture and public art from an experimental and cross-disciplinary perspective, he continuously explores new directions in his research and practice.
In recent years, he has curated and organised various public art projects, including the Wuzhen Theatre Festival Public Space Art Performance Project, the Qiandao Lakes International Biennale of Light Art, the Aranya Theatre Festival "Migratory Birds 300", and the Humble Administrator’s Garden "Humble Inquiry of Elegance" multimedia performance. He has received numerous honours, including two COD+A awards (2013), the Young Craftsman Award from the China Academy of Art (2020), and the Star of Outstanding at the Global Awards for World Heritage Education Innovative Cases (2023). In 2022, he initiated the international public art project "Expeditionary Light". By engaging in a dialogue with nature and historical contexts through the transient transformations of light, the project continues to lead and advance innovation and development in public art.
