workshop: Making Your Zine with Printmaking
Back

In general, zines refer to non-profit publications typically produced by amateur enthusiasts using low-cost materials, low-end technology, or handmade techniques. They are distributed on a small scale and self-published by the creators. The content can vary widely and may include picture books, photo books, diaries, poetry books, cookbooks, field guides, artist's books, or even academic papers.
Artist LAM Kin-choi, who mainly works with printmaking and picture books, will guide participants in creating their unique zines, step by step, from theme exploration to bookbinding. The process will involve a combination of painting, printmaking, and collage techniques, allowing participants to learn various painting, plate-making, and printing techniques such as colour and tonal relationships, multi-plate printing, monotype, drypoint, etc.
