workshop: The Joy of Pottery
Back

Nature provides us with bountiful resources, and clay is one of the treasures. The colour, composition, and temperature determine how a piece of pottery turns out when it comes out of the kiln. Will it be a pleasant surprise? Or not quite what one expects?
In this course, artist Niko Leung will guide the participants through systematic production steps to create a set of tiles swatches for colour reference. These swatches will serve as references to decode the uncertainties of the final kiln outcome, allowing potters to achieve the desired artistic effects. This process values knowledge and tradition while integrating craftsmanship, and participants will be able to experience the joy of creative pottery art.
Each session consists of pottery appreciation, a demonstration of techniques, and a hands-on experience. Participants will be able to learn the core principles and various applications of pottery making to foster their creations in the future.
