Cam Wong
Risseldy Rosseldy Mow Mow Mow Mow Mow Mow (detail)
2023
Copper plate etching, parts of old piano, mechanical installation

Inspired by Hitchcock’s The Birds, Cam Wong removes humans and birds from the ominous scene through geometric copper etchings, retaining the unsettling children’s song. Where Hitchcock created suspense, the artist invites contemplation by sustaining the sonic echo to spark reflection on disquieting routines that arise when waiting loses purpose. An adapted water-damaged piano is used to enhance the unease with a repetitive melody. Through found objects and sparse forms, the work imbues the space with an ungraspable quality, leaving visitors to glean unsettled thoughts on states between moments eluding definition.
