Fung Lam
Round
2016 - 2023
Site-specific sound installation

Created by composer Fung Lam, Round is a playful percussive work inspired by the distinctive sound of mahjong games, putting an ordinary activity on the stage. It comprises three experimental musical works, performed by interacting and making sounds with mahjong tiles in specific ways, with a set of pre-determined compositions. Using daily objects as instruments and mahjong as a performance, Round is combined with a set of prints and installations in the exhibition space that allow us to experience a past event in-situ, re-examining the present through absence.
