Artist Biography

UUendy Lau (UU) is an illustrator, designer and mixed-media artist, whose practice spans narrative illustration, visual design and community-based participatory art. She holds a BA in Industrial and Product Design from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and an MA in Critical Design Practice from Goldsmiths, University of London.

Believing that nature is a universal language, UU invites audiences to explore the connections between local communities and the natural environment, probing the symbiotic relationship between humans and nature. She skilfully integrates materials from nature with everyday objects, transforming the familiar into poetic visual creations that evoke thought and resonance.

UU has been actively involved in both international and local art initiatives and residency programmes over the years. Internationally, her work has been showcased at the Northern Rivers Community Gallery in Australia (2018), the PARADISE AIR artist-in-residence programme (2018) and Europe’s largest live street art festival, UPFEST, in Bristol, UK (2026). Locally, she actively contributes to public art and community projects, including the “HKWALLS Street Art Festival” (2019), “The Weaving Wall – A Love Letter from Kapok” at The Mills (2025), and “Mobile Intangible Cultural Heritage” (2026), aiming to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of local heritage and community culture through visual art.
