"Ink Art Ensembles" Exhibition Series in the Greater Bay Area —

The Art Promotion Office, in collaboration with the Shenzhen Fringe Art Center, has jointly organised the "Ink Art Ensembles" Exhibition Series in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) between 2024 and 2026. Guest-curated by Hong KO and Eric ZHU, the series features five exhibitions across four cities: Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Foshan and Dongguan. The series includes one inaugural group exhibition and four thematic exhibitions, each pairing a Hong Kong artist with another GBA artist(s). The series focuses on ink art as the subject or primary creative medium for the Hong Kong artists, while the other GBA artists respond through diverse artistic forms. The aim is to create a platform for dialogues between artists from Hong Kong and the Mainland, highlighting contemporary artistic experimentation and innovative within the region.
The third exhibition of the series, titled "Strata and Symbiosis", takes place at the chi K11 art space in Guangzhou and is also a contribution programme of the 5th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Culture and Arts Festival. Hong Kong artist Ross YAU Wing Fung uses ink as a medium to reshape the imagery of traditional landscapes, while another GBA art group, _.WAV_Studio (CAO Yuxi and LAU Hiu Kong), has created a fantastical landscape world through digital technology. Through different media, they both break the temporal and spatial dimensions of traditional ink art. This cross-media artistic dialogue showcases the diverse creative styles of GBA artists and injects new vitality and inspiration into the development of contemporary art.

The exhibition is also one of the activities in the Chinese Culture Promotion Series. The LCSD has long been promoting Chinese history and culture through organising an array of programmes and activities to enable the public to learn more about the broad and profound Chinese culture.
