Step into a living canvas where history whispers and creativity resonates. Nestled in Hong Kong Park's Cassels Block—a Grade I historic gem revitalised in 1992—the Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre (vA!) invites you to our Artist-in-Residence Programme. Here, heritage meets creativity in specialist studios for ceramics, printmaking, sculpture, and experimental media. Building on our previous open call's vibrant journey, we invite you to join the 2026–28 residency cycle to immerse in artistic dialogue, cultural discovery, and profound creation amid lush surroundings—one of Hong Kong's most inspiring art spaces.

Who We’re Looking For
The programme welcomes Hong Kong-based artists aged 18 or above who hold a valid Hong Kong Identity Card.
You may apply either individually or as a group of up to three members, depending on the nature of your proposed project. We encourage artists from all disciplines to bring forward their creative ideas and explore new directions through this residency.
As the programme supports independent artistic practice, commercial entities are not eligible to apply.

What We Offer
We nurture the soul of art, providing an artistic hub for your vision to unfold:
- A transformative 6-month residency (Sep 2026 – Feb 2027 or 2027 – 28) for deep research, boundary-pushing experimentation, and works that echo across mediums.
- A studio space dedicated solely to you for uninterrupted creation, plus access to facilities for ceramics, printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media.
- An immersive 8-month public exhibition (Mar – Oct 2027 or 28) in light-drenched galleries, inviting thousands into your artistic world.
- Financial support up to HKD 260,000 for artist fees, production, exhibition set-up, promotion, and outreach.
- At least two public programmes—intimate workshops, reflective talks, or participatory sessions—to bridge your practice with communities, sparking shared inspiration.
- A serene historic haven surrounded by nature, fostering enduring networks and artistic revelations.
- Opportunities for cross-regional exchange and collaboration with other resident artists.

- A completed Application Form
- A Proposal in both Chinese and English (hard copy and soft copy), including:
- your CV;
- documentation of previous artworks;
- a description of your concepts and ideas for the residency;
- preliminary idea of the public programmes; and
- a budget plan.
